The land trust accreditation program recognizes land conservation organizations that meet national quality standards for protecting imporant natural places and working lands forever. Montezuma Land Conservancy (MLC) is pleased to announce it applying for accreditation. A public comment period is now open.
The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, conducts an extensive review of each applicant's policies and programs. "Rural landscapes, found in Monezuma and Dolores counties, are rapidly diminishing as more people discover how wonderful southwestern Colorado is. Demand for our work will only increase and accreditation will help insure that our community receives top quality assistance with preserving their lands." - Amber Johnson, MLC Staff
The commission invites public input and accepts signed, written comments pending applications. Comments must relate to how MLC complies with national quality standards. These standards address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust. For the full list of standards see:
